About Us

Avening Playgroup, The Sunground, Avening, Gloucestershire, GL8 8NW

We offer exceptional early years childcare in a fantastic local setting. Our small, friendly playgroup allows us to tailor care to the needs of individual children and ensure that the group is child centric and full of fun. Our approach helps each and every child to flourish and gain confidence in a safe and supportive environment where they get to know all the children and staff. We embrace a learning approach that helps to prepare our happy children for the first day of school and beyond using in moment planning and close ties with the local Primary School, the Head of the School sitting on our committee alongside parents, staff and volunteers. Together we are very proud of what our not for profit, Charity run playgroup delivers for our children and our community.

Our Sessions

Our wonderful private setting is open each weekday morning from 9.15 to 12.15. While this represents a shorter offering than some other settings we feel it contributes to the strength of our group and the eagerness with which the children attend each day. It also serves to maximise the amount of learning and growth our children experience while with us. We are open later, until 1.15pm, for a lunch club on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. We may also open from 9am to 3pm in the future if there are enough children wanting to attend.

Our Rates

As a charity we aim to keep our rates low and accessible for all members of the community. Each session is charged at £9.50 until the children are eligible to receive government funding, at which point sessions are charged at the voucherable rate. Avening Playgroup normally takes children from the start of the period in which they become 3. This will begin in either September, January or April.

All 3 and 4 year olds get 15 hours of education paid for by the government. This funding can be spent in more than one setting. Some 2 year olds are also eligible to get their fees paid by the government. See the Early Years website: http://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/earlyyears for more details.
